1992-93 Inaugural Season Overview
The Ottawa Civic Centre resounded in triumph when the Ottawa Senators defeated the Montreal Canadiens 5-3 on Oct. 8, 1992 - the club's first game in modern-franchise history. Fifty-eight years earlier, the original Senators franchise had ended its storied 17-season run only blocks away with its final game on March 17, 1934, at the Auditorium on O'Connor Street.

The club's inaugural training camp opened at Robert Guertin Arena in Hull, Que. On Sept. 26, they moved to their permanent training facility, the Kanata Recreation Complex.
Sept. 18, 1992
The Senators tied the Whalers 1-1 at Hartford in a pre-season game. It was the first game played by the Senators since re-joining the NHL. Neil Brady scored at 18:46 of the second period with assists going to Brad Shaw and Andrew McBain.
Sept. 21, 1992
The Washington Capitals defeated the Senators 4-3 in a pre-season game. It was the first game played in Ottawa by an NHL Senators team since the 1933-34 season. Ottawa goal scorers were Sylvain Turgeon, Jody Hull and Mike Peluso.
Sept. 24, 1992
The Senators defeated the New York Islanders 4-3 in a pre-season game. It was Ottawa's first win since re-entry into the NHL. Defenceman Brad Shaw scored the winning goal.

Laurie Boschman was named the club's first captain. Assistants were Sylvain Turgeon, Brad Shaw and Brad Marsh.

The Senators defeated the Montreal Canadiens 5-3 at Ottawa Civic Centre. It was the first regular-season game played by a Senators team since 1934. The first Senators goal, a power-play effort, was scored by Neil Brady at 0:26 of the second period to give the Senators a 1-0 lead. Jody Hull earned the first assist. Patrick Roy was in goal for the Canadiens. Marc Fortier recorded the first Senators shot, however the first shot on goal was taken by Doug Smail in the opening period. Ken Hammond was assessed the Senators'first penalty at 0:51 of the first. Ottawa's first game-winning goal was scored by Sylvain Turgeon. Turgeon was also the first Senator to hit the goal post. The first goal scored against Ottawa was by Mike Keane at 11:36 of the second period. Forward Doug Smail scored the Senators first empty-net goal at 19:46 of the third period. Smail (2-0-2), Hull (0-2-2) and Norm Maciver (0-2-2) were the first Senators to record multi-point games.

The Nordiques defeated the Senators 9-2 in Quebec. It was the first regular-season road game for the Senators since the 1933-34 season. Owen Nolan recorded the first hat trick against the Senators. Joe Sakic scored the first shorthanded goal against Ottawa. Oct. 20, 1992The Toronto Maple Leafs beat the Senators 5-3 at Hamilton. Neil Brady was the first Senator to have a three-point game (1-2).

The New York Rangers defeated the Senators 3-2 in overtime at Ottawa. It was the first overtime game in modern-day Senators history. Senators forward Phil Bourque scored the overtime goal.
